Hello Family let us pray,
Most Heavenly Father, creator of our universe and all
within, we offer great thanks for the blessings we find in our laps on this
day, blessings from You. Your generosity
knows no limits and we reap the bounty as Your servants. Father use Your healing hands to help those
in need of healing from injury or illness.
Protect those who must walk in harm’s way. Shine Your wonderful light upon our pathway
to provide us with everlasting guidance.
Father as we stand before You may we be emptied of all the things that
go against what You stand for and the teachings of Jesus so that we may in turn
be filled with the Holy Spirit in such a way that all that is left in our
hearts is goodness and love for one another.
May we develop the talents that You have provided each of us in such a
manner that we can create works that help others to come to see Jesus Christ as
we see Him and have learned from His teachings that it is possible to translate
His teachings into our lives on this day so many centuries after He was
crucified, died, and was buried. For we
know He rose again and is seated at Your right hand. From His sacrifice we have been given the
Holy Spirit that indwells in His believers.
In Christ Jesus’ name we offer these prayers to You today….AMEN.
Welcome again Family, what a beautiful day this has been,
here it is mid-November and we have no snow on the ground and the grass is even
still green. Now mind you from a North
Dakota standpoint I am not complaining, not complaining at all, just making an
observation.
If I were to hold up an empty glass in my hand to show you
and ask how might you get all the air out of this glass, what kinds of answers
would I get back? Maybe someone would
say try and create a vacuum to evacuate all the air from it…..that might work
to a point, but it is also likely to cause the glass to break. Maybe there would be a few other worthy
suggestions. How about though I take
this pitcher of water I have here on the counter and I fill the glass with the
water, would that no remove the air from the glass.
The point to be understood here is that just as with the
air, we need to understand that for us to lead a life that is filled with
Christ and the love of God, we can’t simply try and suck a little bit of sin
from here and there from time to time.
We need to expect an infusion of the Holy Spirit instead. Allowing the Holy Spirit to fill us with
goodness and love….by doing that we find that the sin is automatically pushed
out….leaving us with God’s goodness and love.
At that point that we can be emptied of such things as
selfishness, ambition, and pride…..the very things that go against what God is
all about we can see and feel how the Holy Spirit starts to fill every corner
of our hearts. It is when we are full of
selfishness, ambition, and pride that we have no room for God’s Spirit. We must be emptied so we may be filled.
Let today be the day we start to empty out the bad in our
hearts so we can be filled with the Spirit of God that will empower us to do
good and great things. Yes that is the
way, and there is no other path to be assured of being filled with this
Spirit. It requires work on our part
sure thing, but it is a worthy effort for us to undertake.
I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you
with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that
Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being
rooted and established in love, may have power, together
with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep
is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses
knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:16-19
